Every good racing team starts with a solid plan. Ours started with a mid-life crisis.

The guy who decided a mid-life crisis was best solved with a four-seat race car. Grinding through Amateur class one weekend at a time behind the wheel of “The Limo.”

Started out racing ATVs before moving up to something bigger and faster. Now runs her own build in the Women's class and doubles as Lou's toughest critic from the co-pilot seat.
Lou always wanted to get into motorsports, but between work, life, and general adulting, the closest he got for most of his 30s was the occasional go-kart at an indoor track. Then his early 40s happened — the kind of stretch that makes a person do something drastic, like buy a race car.
At 44, he decided the family's new Polaris SxS wasn't just for trail rides anymore, and Crisis Forty-Four Racing was born: a one-man operation with a name that pretty much explained itself.
The 4-seat RZR Pro XP looked absurd on a starting line next to actual purpose-built race cars, and nobody took the new guy seriously. That lasted until race three, when he found the podium and the car earned a nickname that stuck — “The Limo.”
These days it's a family operation. Lou's daughter Lizzy raced ATVs in IATVHSS for a couple of seasons starting in 2024 before stepping up to a UTV of her own in 2026, running the Women's class in her own build while Lou keeps grinding away in Amateur. They still ride copilot for each other whenever they're not busy embarrassing themselves in separate cars.
Lou's wife Lisa is at every race, but it's her role as Lizzy's mom that really shows up on race day. She watches every moto with her heart in her throat, and if something breaks out on course and the cars don't come back in on schedule, she's already assuming the worst — more than once she's been convinced they went off the side of a cliff. She's also a genuinely good sport about a hobby that isn't exactly her first choice of weekend activity, and has warmed up to the friendships that come with it.
Son Riley raced his own ATV in IATVHSS too, back when he and Lizzy both got their start there — before the series dropped its UTV classes. Nobody in the family races that series anymore, but it's where all of this began.
Fair warning: this team breaks down more than it wins. We're working on it.
